The Ape Cave is a historic cave, formed over 2,000 years ago when lava flowed down Mt. St. Helens in streams. The cave is perfect for adventurous climbers, as you have to scale through the narrow areas of the cave. The cave is about 2 and a half miles round trip, and is relatively flat. Make sure to bring several sources of light! There are several restrictions to hike through the cave, so make sure to do your research before bringing the kids or pets!

Jen and Kim decided to go through the Ape Cave as a Friday hike. They loved the adventure of climbing through the cave. Their favorite part was the 8 foot pile of lava fall that can be climbed to reach a stunning skylight opening! #myexpedition
